SPOKANE -- South Spokane County Verizon landline customers are experiencing a 911 outage.

About 365 Verizon landline customers in Rockford, Fairfield, Latah and Waverly are not able to call outside their telephone number prefix.

In the event of an emergency, people living in those towns are asked to call their local fire station until further notice.

Cell phones have not been affected by the outage. Calls to 911 from cell phones are able to go through.

The outage is only among Verizon landline customers.
