SPOKANE -- A man charged in the death of a toddler in May last year has pleaded guilty to vehicular homicide in the death of a 22-month old girl.

Michael Beckley was sentenced to 10½-years in prison by Spokane Superior Court judge Neal Reilly on Monday.

His driver's license was suspended at the time of the crash.

Gabriella Autry was killed in a three-car crash in May 2007. She was declared brain dead, but was kept alive for a period of time so she could be an organ donor. Three children received her heart, kidneys and liver.

Beckley was not not speeding or drinking at the time of the crash. Witnesses told authorities they saw reaching for what officials later said was a cell phone.

Beckley hit two parked cars along Highway 2 in North Spokane County. He has a long criminal record and a history of traffic violations.

He’s been arrested multiple times for car theft and leading police on a chase. He's also been convicted of DUI, and hit and run.

Prior to the crash, in the past 15 years, Beckley has been cited for not wearing a seatbelt, insurance problems, driving with a suspended license, and driving with expired tabs.

Beckley fled the scene and was on the run before being arrested by authorities.
