ST. MARIES, Idaho -- Benewah County prosecutors have offered a plea deal to the mother accused of abusing her 3-year-old daughter.

3-year old Kyra was found at her home in St. Maries bloody and badly abused.

26-year-old Christina Haynes is charged with aggravated battery and felony injury to a child. Her daugher, Kyra Wine, spent nearly three months in the hospital recovering from repeated abuse.

As part of the deal on the table, Haynes would plead guilty to injury to a child and testify against her boyfriend, 29-year-old Charles Smith. Haynes could face ten years in prison. However, Benewah Co. Prosecutor Doug Payne tells KREM 2 News he would recommend the judge suspend five years of that sentence.

At this time, there are no plans to reach a plea deal with Smith, Payne says.

Sheriff's deputies found Kyra at her home in St. Maries in June after receiving a complaint. The little girl had dead flesh on her arms and legs and was in critical condition at Sacred Heart Medical Center when she first arrived.

She underwent several surgeries and lost toes and part of a finger to amputation. She's now living with her father.
