WSP and WSDOT will be managing traffic for Skyfest

SPOKANE, Wash --- Washington State Patrol and Washington State Department of Transportation will be coordinating traffic movement for this weekend’s air show at Fairchild Air Force Base.

Starting Friday July 28, the Washington State Department of Transportation will post “no parking” signs along State Route 2 from the FAFB main gate east to Rambo Road. WSP troopers will be monitoring traffic in the area of FAFB ensuring these signs are adhered to for everyone’s safety.

On Saturday and Sunday mornings, WSDOT sign technicians will be coordinating traffic signals on State Route 2 in the city of Airway Heights to ensure traffic traveling to FAFB moves efficiently. WSP troopers will be coordinating traffic into FAFB utilizing three gates. General public can utilize the Main Gate and Rambo Road gates to enter the base. VIP, handicap and RV’s should use the Graham Road gates for access.

After the show is over on both days, WSP, WSDOT and the Spokane Sheriff’s Office will coordinate traffic departing the base from the Main Gate, Rambo Gate, McFarlane Gate and Graham Gate. WSDOT sign technicians will coordinate traffic signals on State Route 2 to help keep traffic moving. Motorists are encouraged to allow plenty of extra travel time, and are asked to be prepared for heavy traffic on SR 2 from I-90 to FAFB throughout the weekend.
