Woman killed in hit-and-run crash, suspect still at large

SPOKANE, Wash. – The Spokane Police Department is investigating a deadly hit and run crash involving a pedestrian. It happened Saturday just after 8:30 p.m. in the area of North Holland and North Colton.

Spokane Police and the Spokane Fire Department responded for reports of a vehicle versus pedestrian crash. Witnesses on scene said the female victim was crossing the street when she was hit by a truck. The truck involved in the crash fled the scene. The witnesses described the truck as being a larger green, dark, or metallic blue color with an extended cab, possibly a Nissan.

The Spokane Fire Department and the Spokane Police Department responded to the scene but the victim died as a result of her injuries from the crash. The Spokane Police Major Crimes Unit Crash investigators responded to the scene for the investigation. The roadway remained closed for several hours Saturday night during the investigation.

Spokane Police are asking the public for help finding the truck which fled the scene. Officials say the truck will likely have damage to the front fender.

The identity of the victim and the cause of death with be released by the Spokane Medical Examiner’s Office.
