SVFD firefighters pass out coats to kids in need

They were able to raise $5,300 this year, which bough 250 brand new coats for kids at various Spokane Valley schools. Next year, they hope to raise even more.

SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. - Spokane Valley firefighters passed out coats to students in need on Thursday. 

They made stops at Greenacres and Progress elementary schools. The firefighters are working with the non-profit “Operation Warm” to give winter coats to kids who otherwise might not have one.
They were able to raise $5,300 this year, which bought 250 brand new coats for kids at various Spokane Valley schools. Next year, they hope to raise even more.

Any extra coats, the fire department will hold on to and give to kids who lose theirs in house fires.
