Suspect arrested in connection to N. Spokane homicide

SPOKANE, Wash. – Spokane County Sheriff’s Major Crime Detectives arrested a suspect in connection to a suspicious death in North Spokane on Thursday afternoon.

Officials said Matthew Bossard, 35, was arrested and charged with first degree murder late Thursday afternoon.

Investigators said throughout the day they developed information confirming the man who died was a victim of domestic violence homicide.

SCSO said the victim was found dead at a home in the 8600 block of N. Whitehouse Drive.

A caregiver told police she arrived at the house to provide assistance to a different family member living there and discovered the man unconscious in the bathroom.

Emergency responders arrived at the scene and tried to save him, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

N. Whitehouse Drive between W. Shasta Way and N. Weipert Drive will be closed to traffic except for residents to come and go from their homes.

The Spokane County Medical Examiner's Office has not yet identified the victim, or named a cause of death.
