Steve Gleason posts tribute to friend who is new Spokane Co. judge

SPOKANE, Wash. – Spokane County’s newest Superior Court judge is being sworn in Friday night.

Governor Jay Inslee appointed Tony Hazel to fill the seat. Hazel has worked as a Spokane County Deputy Prosecutor since 2004. He is also active in the fight against ALS through Team Gleason.

Hazel’s good friend, Steve Gleason, posted a tribute to him on his Facebook page calling Tony one of his very best friends, an honorable representative of Spokane County and someone who always “works smart.”

Gleason wrote, "Spokane is the community that formed my character. The region shaped my success, and has supported me in my struggles as well as my triumphs. I love Spokane and the Inland Empire, because of people like you, Tony. Thank you for your wisdom, and for serving the people of Spokane County as our Superior Court Judge."

Hazel’s swearing in ceremony is scheduled for 5:30 Friday at the Gonzaga University School of Law.
