SPD officer on leave after being arrested for domestic violence

Officer Nicholas Spolski is on administrative leave while an internal affairs and criminal investigation is going on.

SPOKANE, Wash. – a Spokane Police Department officer is on leave after he was arrested on charges of domestic violence.

SPD said in a release deputies arrested Nicholas Spolski on Thursday.

Spolski is on administrative leave, SPD said, and an internal affairs investigation will proceed after the criminal investigation.

SPD said the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office will be handling the criminal investigation. In a release, SCSO said Spolski faces fourth degree assault charges.

Spolski was cleared in 2016 of any wrongdoing in a "suicide by cop" style shooting incident on May 5, 2015. The man shot in the case survived the shooting and the Spokane County Prosecutor said Spolski had acted in good faith and without malice.
