Man stabbed at Shadle McDonald's

SPOKANE, Wash. – The Spokane Police Department is investigating a stabbing at the McDonald’s near West Wellesley Avenue and North Belt Street that took place on Sunday afternoon.

Police said 53-year-old Darrell E. McDuffee stabbed a male victim in the bathroom.

The victim was in the restroom when the suspect entered. The victim alleged that he attempted to walk around McDuffee to wash his hands.

According to police, McDuffee did not say a word to the victim and pulled out a knife, slashed the victim in the face and then attempted to stab him in the stomach.

The victim stated that he and McDuffee did not know each other prior to the incident.

Police said the victim was able to grab onto McDuffee’s arm and hold him at bay while he yelled for help.

Customers and employees ran into the restroom and helped take McDuffee to the ground while police were called.

Police said McDuffee refused to drop the knife during the entire incident. Police recovered the knife and took him into custody.

McDuffee was booked into the Spokane County Jail for first degree assault.
