New playroom opens in local Ronald McDonald House

SPOKANE, Wash. - The Ronald McDonald House of the Inland Northwest officially opened their newly designed playroom.

The new playroom space allows children to have a place to play close to the area where parents can relax and watch TV.

Kurt Holmes with the Kalispel Tribe spoke at the ribbon cutting on Thursday. He said he had experienced what many parents who use the Ronald McDonald House have gone through.

“When one of your children is going through something like that everything else falls to the wayside,” he said. “All of a sudden you’re in a scramble, how are we going to take care of this, how are we going to do that. Some of those kind of basic things you kind of take for granted until you’re in that situation.”

Holmes said the Kalispel Tribe has had a 17-year partnership with Ronald McDonald House. The tribe was the underwriting sponsor of the new playroom at the Ronald McDonald House.
