Maple Street Bridge reopens after police coax distraught man off safety fence

SPOKANE, Wash. – Maple Street Bridge closed Thursday morning as police negotiated with a man on top of the fencing.

The man eventually came down on his own around 11 a.m., police said.

Police closed the bridge in both directions during the morning rush hour for the incident.

The bridge remained closed for hours, until around 11:20 a.m. when police reopened it.
