SPOKANE, Wash. --- A man was stabbed multiple times in an alleyway in Spokane.
Last Friday, emergency responders took a man to Sacred Heart Medical Center after he was attacked in an alley in downtown Spokane. According to court documents, the victim sustained injuries to his head, neck and left hand.
Documents said a witness saw a man approaching the victim holding a machete in one hand and a smaller knife in the other. The witness said the man argued with the victim before he pressed a knife against the back of the victim’s neck. The witness said the suspect approached the victim multiple times before running away. The witness called 911.
Officers responded to the incident and found the victim with an almost a 2-inch cut on the back of his head. Officers said the victim could not identify the man who attacked him but still wanted to press charges.
Officers watched video surveillance to see if they could identify the man. An officer recognized the man on the video footage from previous interactions with him.
Officers were able to track down the man at 204 South Wall St. The man agreed to answer questions regarding the incident. He admitted that he did get in to a fight with the victim but said the victim grabbed him. The man said the victim must have accidentally cut himself during the incident.
According to documents, officers thought the suspect’s story did not explain how the victim ended up with cuts on the back of his head and neck.
The man was arrested on charges of assault in the second degree with a deadly weapon.
