SPOKANE, Wash --- Spokane firefighters responded to and quickly put out two brush fires that popped up in Spokane today.
One on North Aubrey L White Parkway and West Rifle Club Road was contained in less than half an hour by fire crews. Spokane County Fire District 9 responded with the Washington State Department of Natural Resources to contain the blaze.
The other fire was on South High Drive and West 23rd Avenue. It was a full response brush fire that was contained in about an hour by fire crews. Several homes were in the area so the crews had to work quickly to protect the homes.
Officials said conditions were good for fighting fires in Spokane, because there was not much wind to grow the fires quicker than usual.
