SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash. --- A group of kids broke into what they thought was an abandoned home and found the body of a former resident.
Court documents show a woman called police to tell them “some kids” had found a body inside the Spokane home on Monday.
The woman said the kids were too scared to call 911 themselves because they had broken into the home off of 3024 E. Lincoln Rd.
When deputies walked into the house, they said they immediately smelled the strong odor of a decaying body. They said the body looked badly decayed, as though it had been there for months.
After searching the house, deputies found a .22 caliber cartridge on the bed sheet.
After an autopsy, the medical examiner said the man died from a gunshot wound to the roof of his mouth. The bullet was found inside his head.
