K9 Gunnar heads back to work after surgery on paws

SPOKANE, Wash. --  A Spokane County Sheriff’s K9 has been cleared for duty after having surgery on his paws.

Sheriff’s office officials said K9 Gunnar underwent surgery on October 30 to three of his paws which had developed growths. Dr. Doug Honken of Ponti Veterinary removed the tissue. The tissue was then sent to a lab for testing and the growths were benign.

Gunnar returned to the veterinary hospital on Monday to have his stitches removed and was cleared to return to work.
