SPOKANE, Wash --- The Washington Post and Mapzen collaborated on an interactive map where you can type in your address and you will see how deep the water would be if I rained as much as it did in Texas.
Here is how deep it would be at KREM.
Harvey broke the record for the most rainfall from a single storm in the continental United States. The most rain recorded in a single place during the storm was 51.88 inches in Cedar Bayou, Tex, according to the National Weather Service.
It is just shy of the record Hawai’i set in 1950 of 52 inches of rain.
The amount of rain is hard to visualize, so the Washington Post and Mapzen created a map where you can type in your address and it will tell you how deep the water would be there if it had rained 51.88 inches.
Check out the map here.
For more perspective, a person who is five feet tall is 60 inches tall, so the rainfall is almost enough to completely overtake them.
