SPOKANE, Wash. – Country superstar Garth Brooks is back in Spokane for the first time in 20 years.

Brooks and his wife Trisha Yearwood held a joint press conference Friday afternoon after their first show Thursday night.

Brooks said his first show in the Spokane was fantastic, crowd was great and so was the energy.

“It’s awesome. I mean you gotta remember why we’re here. We’re here because we’ve been here. We know how much fun we had here last time,” Brooks said.

Brooks announced during the show Thursday night that the stop in Spokane will be part of his live record. He expects Friday night’s show to be even rowdier.

“If every night goes like last night, seven shows ain’t  going to be enough here, man. This is fun,” he said.

Brooks and Yearwood said their big party days will be Friday and Monday, when they have a day off in Spokane. They said they’re always looking for cool things to do when they travel.

“We treat it like an athletic team. We do team dinners, everything,” he said.

Brooks said people in the northwest often get a bad rap when it comes to country music because it is not the south.

“We went to Tacoma and I swear to you, man, the same way as last night, you strap your helmet on and you try to survive it, you do,” he explained. “It’s just a place that like to get loud and have fun. I don’t know if it’s the climate or what.”

He said the people in Tacoma went at all the time and it Spokane the shows feel more personal. He said in the live recording he is not sure which building is going to feel bigger in the recording.

Brooks has six more shows to do in Spokane, including Friday night.
