Docs: Spokane Co. suspect tells girl he's going to kill her dad

SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash. – Court documents are giving new details about a homicide in south Spokane County Tuesday morning.

Spokane County deputies found a man dead at a home on Kenney Road near East Stutler Road. There was a child, later identified as the victim’s daughter, at the scene when deputies responded at about 7:20 a.m. The child was not injured

Documents said the man’s 8-year-old daughter called a family member who then called police. The girl said someone broke into their house and killed her dad.

Court records said the child was in bed with her dad and was awakened by a man who was beating up her dad. The girl told deputies the man had a sword and a knife. She said the man told her to stay in bed because he was going to kill her dad.

Deputies found some bags of what looked like marijuana near the body. A family member said the man grew marijuana for some dispensaries. Court documents said blood was found throughout the home and an ax was found near the body that had suspected bloodstains on it.

Officials said the victim’s last post on Facebook said in part, “There’s gonna be some hard days ahead of us but I want you all to know that I was victimized by someone close to me. Someone I treated like a brother and trusted.”
