Cooling centers: places in the Spokane area to beat the heat

SPOKANE, Wash. – As temperatures continue to rise, businesses across the Spokane area announced locations and hours for cooling centers.

The Salvation Army (Fellowship Hall), 222 E. Indiana Avenue

10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. (except Saturday)

Crosswalk, 525 West Second Avenue

Open 24 hours

Downtown Public Library, 906 West Main Avenue

10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. Friday through Saturday and Monday, closed Sunday, 10:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. Thursday and Friday

East Side Library, 524 South Stone Street

12:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. Friday, 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. Saturday, closed Sunday through Monday, 12:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. Wednesday through Friday

Hillyard Library, 4005 North Cook Street

10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. every day except Sunday and Monday (closed) and Tuesday (12:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.)

Indian Trial Library, 4909 West Barnes Road

10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. every day except Sunday and Monday (closed) and Tuesday (12:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.)

Shadle Park Library, 2111 Wellesley Avenue

10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. every day except Sunday (closed) and Monday through Tuesday (10:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.)

The Women’s Hearth (single women only), 920 West Second Avenue

8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Friday, closed Saturday and Sunday, 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, 10:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Thursday

In addition to these cooling centers, all regular shelters will remain open. Be sure to access these centers as needed and stay hydrated.
