SPOKANE, Wash. --- Crews are making progress on revamping an old Spokane motel.
Work started on the old Trade Winds Motel last month, which is being turned in to a Howard Johnson hotel.
It took 10 days just to clear out the rooms in the building. Inside, construction workers found beer cans and syringes in the rooms.
Crews are making so much progress in the building, the new Howard Johnson hotel could open six months ahead of schedule.
This means, the new hotel could be open just in time for Thanksgiving.
One of the reasons why there has been such a rush to finish this project, is because of potential sales.
Every year, Thanksgiving and Christmas brings visitors to Spokane, which could boost sales at the Howard Johnson if they can open in time.
Developers said they hope to open the hotel up, by the time the holiday travel rush starts.
