Arraignment set, bond at $25,000 for man arrested in fatal downtown crash

SPOKANE, Wash. — Michael J. Lucey, 62, appeared in court Tuesday after being arrested for vehicular homicide for a fatal crash on South Division Street and East 3rd Avenue.

Spokane Police said Lucey crashed a van into two other vehicles and then struck a pedestrian on Monday.  He was booked into the Spokane County Jail.

In Tuesday's court appearance, the defense attorney said Lucey has one previous adult felony on his record and is asking for him to be released.  The judge is imposing a bond of $25,000 with an arraignment set for August 15 at 11 a.m.

At the time of the incident, surrounding roads in the area were closed for several hours while Spokane Police conducted an investigation.  The pedestrian died as a result of their injuries from the crash.
