SILVER VALLEY, Idaho -- An Idaho couple said their daughter is much like any other kid -- a lover of dogs and fast rides.
But the two harnessed it in a different way.
"We strapped her on as an infant in a car seat, we used tie down straps and she went all over the neighborhood," said Dutton.
Harleigh Dutton has been dog sledding for years -- impressive, since she is only five.
"When I was 2 years old, where I raced was Priest Lake," said Dutton.
Dutton's parents said she started racing along the airstrip in Priest Lake. She started with just short, straight rides. 2016 will bring her out of the country for races.
In February, Dutton will head to Montana for a race. Next, she will compete in Canada.
"It's something that she loves, it keeps her out of trouble, it teaches her responsibility because she cares for the dogs," said Dutton's parents. "We don't do horses, so why not do sled dogs?"
