WSDOT workers rescue abandoned gosling

KELSO, Wash. – Two Washington State Department of Transportation employees were working along State Route 4 near Kelso in April when they found a tiny friend in need of some help.

Jordan Everson and Aaron Yanez, both maintenance workers for WSDOT, found a small gosling in the middle of the highway.

In a Facebook post, WSDOT said the little bird walked right up to Everson and Yanez. They scooped it up and took it to a nearby body of water to search for the gosling’s family.

Everson and Yanez were unable to find the gosling’s family and feared it could not survive by itself, so they took the bird to Ocean Beach Animal Hospital. Staff examined the gosling and planned to find a rescue organization for it.
