WSDOT looks for new owner for historic bridge

PUYALLUP, Wash. – Need a bridge? A 92-year-old bridge in Puyallup could be yours!

On Wednesday, the Washington State Department of Transportation listed the 1925 State Route Puyallup River Bridge.

Officials said the bridge was decommissioned in 2015. They said the historic bridge sported the longest riveted steel prior to 1940 on our highway system.

“The Puyallup River Bridge would be great addition to a city, county or state road, or even to a large facility looking for something historically significant and…well…long enough carry 20 cars end to end,” WSDOT wrote in its listing on its blog.

WSDOT officials said whoever buys it would be responsible for maintaining the bridge and the features that give it historical significance and all future legal and financial responsibilities. The buyer would also have to relocate the bridge from WSDOT's storage location.

It is available for purchase until June 2019.
