Woman dies after falling from raft in Little Salmon River

IDAHO CO., Idaho --- A woman drowned after falling from a raft in the Little Salmon River over the weekend.

The Idaho County Sheriff’s Office said Lindsay A. Rice, 31, of Great Falls, Mont. Was riding in a cataraft with another person when they were spilled into the river.

Both were pulled from the water, ICSO said in a release, and CPR was administered on Rice.

“Riggins Ambulance transported Rice to the Riggins High School football field where they were met by Life Flight who pronounced death,” ICSO said in a release. “The other party was not in need of medical assistance.”

Officials said in the release that Rice’s life vest may not have been properly secured and had come off when she was in the river.

Rice was taken to a funeral home in Grangeville.

“Everyone needs to remember to use the proper equipment and take great care while recreating on our rivers, the water conditions remain hazardous,” Patrol Lieutenant and Dive Instructor Doug Ulmer said in the release.
