Idaho attorney general bans fantasy sports website

SPOKANE, Wash. --- FanDuel and DraftKings Daily Sports is now blocking customers in Washington and Idaho.

If you are a sports fan, you probably remember FanDuel and DraftKings commercials that aired last year. The two companies spent millions of dollars in advertisement costs. However, you will not see any of those advertisements in Washington or Idaho anymore.

Those companies are now considered gambling sites according to Idaho law.

"The concern I have is that the paid daily sports offering provided by these companies constitute gambling under Idaho law,” said Idaho Attorney General, Lawrence Wasden. The attorneys general in 11 states have determined the Daily Fantasy Sports is gambling.

To play the game, customers pay a fee to buy a number of contests on the site. The contests can range from football to NASCAR to mixed martial arts. The customer then competes against each other in hopes of winning big prize money.

As a result of the Idaho ruling, FanDuel and DraftKings now blocks players from Idaho. Washington players are also blocked from using the sites, though FanDuel blocked them back in 2014.

While the sites are blocked in Washington and Idaho you can still visit other states like Oregon, where it is legal to play.
