N. Idaho man accused of kidnapping, assaulting neighbors at gunpoint

SWEETWATER, Idaho – A Sweetwater man is accused of kidnapping and aggravated assault after he reportedly forced two victims at gun point out of their residence and into the yard on Friday morning.

Deputies from the Nez Perce County Sheriff’s Office, Idaho State Police and the Nez Perce Tribal Police Department responded to the home near Main Street and Harris Street.

Officials said Eugene D. Webb, 52, used a shotgun and shot open the back door to his neighbor’s home. Webb is accused of making a male victim lie down on the ground and binding his hands behind his back with a zip tie. Officials said Webb told a female victim to sit down.

The victims told police the incident lasted for three hours.

Deputies said the male victim talked with Webb and eventually got Webb to release him and return to his own residence.

A deputy made phone contact with Webb and attempted to have him step out of his residence. Deputies said Webb came out of his back door where he was taken into custody without incident.

Webb was transported to the Nez Perce County Detention Center where he was booked and charged with kidnapping and aggravation assault. Other charges may be pending.

A search warrant was obtained for Webb’s residence and items used in the commission of the crime were seized.

The victims were seen by medics and released.
