Lewiston traffic stop leads to drug trafficking arrest

LEWISTON, Idaho – A traffic stop resulted in a drug trafficking arrest on Sunday afternoon near Lewiston.

An Idaho State Police trooper stopped a pickup near Clearwater Avenue and 29th Street in Lewiston for a traffic violation.

Charles A. Rogers, 46, was detained at the direction of his parole officer. A search of the vehicle revealed a large quantity of methamphetamine and heroin.

Rogers was arrested for trafficking methamphetamine and heroin. He was transported to the Nez Perce County Detention Center where an additional search was performed. This resulted in additional felony charges of introduction of major contraband into a correctional facility and possession of a controlled substance (methadone).
