MEAD, Wash. -- The Mead School District has decided the fate of a 16-year-old high school junior who threatened to kill his teacher.
The October 28 incident caused the school to go into lockdown. But the student said it was a joke. On Thursday, the district decided not to expel the student. Instead, he will be suspended through December and will return after the Christmas break.
The decision was mutually agreed on by the teacher involved, the principal and the district. They also took input from other students, staff and parents. It is still to be determined if the student will face criminal charges.
