One structure lost at Settlers Creek fire in CDA

(8-1-17)

COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho – Kootenai County firefighters responded to a structure fire at the Settlers Creek wedding venue Tuesday afternoon.

Kootenai County Division Chief Steve Isaacson said one structure is lost and the fire has jumped to two other structures. The blaze also spread to grass and brush along the venue, burning 20 to 30 acres. Isaacson said multiple fire districts are on scene to assist Kootenai County. As for the burning brush, Idaho Department of Lands is working to contain the fire. IDL has water and air support on scene.

Isaacson said there are currently no evacuations in place and residents should not be worried. “We are confident it will be contained,” Isaacson noted.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but Isaacson said the blaze did start in the wedding venue building and moved to the brush.

Officials at the scene said they were able to stop the fire before it hit any power lines, though it did burn through multiple propane tanks and vegetation.

Another fire happened at Sunnyside about the same time, officials at the scene said, and their resources were split. KREM 2 is working to learn more information about that second fire.
