Man missing after picking mushrooms in CDA National Forest

COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho – The Kootenai County and Shoshone County Sheriff’s Offices are searching for a man who went to pick mushrooms and has not been heard from since.

Officials said Mark Arnold was reported missing by his family and is believed to be in the area of Lavern Saddle in the Coeur d’Alene National Forest. He had told a family member that he was headed out to pick mushrooms but has not been heard from since Thursday afternoon. He is believes to be driving a maroon colored 2003 Mazda B4000 pickup with Idaho plate K499647.

A search and rescue mission is underway with resources from Kootenai County, Shoshone County and Two Bear Air.

Arnold is 5’9” tall, 165 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes. Anyone with information about his whereabout is asked to call the Kootenai County Sheriff at 208-446-1300 or the Shoshone County Sheriff at 208-556-1114.
