Missing man separated from snowmobiling party found alive in Panhandle National Forest

Rescue crews found 62-year-old Fredrick Goodwin just before nine o'clock this morning.

KOOTENAI COUNTY, Idaho — Kootenai County Sheriff’s office have found 62-year-old Fredrick Goodwin after he went missing in the Panhandle National Forest after being separated from his snowmobiling party.

KCSO reports Goodwin was found Friday morning.  Officials said he was on foot walking back to the trail head and was cold, wet and tired, suffering from the onset of hypothermia.

According to the release, Fredrick Goodwin, 62, of Rathdrum was leaving the Skitwish Warming Hut with his party and heading back to the Fernan Trail Head when he was separated.  

The sheriff's office mobilized its back country unit and volunteer search and rescue unit and responded to the area.
