KCSO arrests suspects accused of burglarizing multiple stores

HAYDEN, Idaho – The Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office arrested two suspects accused of burglarizing several stores in the Coeur d’Alene and Hayden area. Officials with the sheriff’s department said deputies responded December 8 just after 6:45 p.m. to reports of a shoplifter at the Walmart on 550 West Honeysuckle Avenue.

Walmart’s loss prevention team reported to deputies that there was a male inside the store who was concealing merchandise in his backpack. Deputies said as they watched the suspect he pushed a cart out the door with more than $1000 worth of stolen items.

Officials said deputies met the male suspect at the door and provided them with a fake name. Deputies eventually identified the suspect as Lorce G. Price, 35, of Spokane. While interviewing Price, a Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office sergeant located an accomplice in the parking lot. Deputies identified the accomplice as Marlene L. Pfeiffer, 27, of Moses Lake. While deputies spoke with Pfeiffer, they observed she was wearing a coat with department store price tags still on it. Deputies also found more merchandise in the car with tags and security devices still attached. Deputies also saw drug paraphernalia in plain view. A Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office K9 also alerted to the presence of drug odor on the outside of the car.

Deputies were able to link the two suspects to multiple recent store burglaries in the Coeur d’Alene and Hayden area. In the suspect’s car, deputies found multiple driver’s licenses they suspected to be stolen along with suspected stolen credit cards. Deputies also found a large amount of stolen merchandise with theft prevention devices still attached from multiple stores, tools used to defeat threat prevention devices, and methamphetamine.

Deputies arrested Price for several charges of burglary, grand theft, possession of stolen property, removing a theft detection device, possession of burglary tools, and providing false information to a peace officer. Pfeiffer was arrested for possession of stolen property, possession of methamphetamine, possession of burglary tools, removing a theft detection device, and possession of paraphernalia.

KCSO said additional charges are expected as more victims are identified and earlier theft reports from Walmart are reviewed.
