CDA boat crash suspect charged, pleads not guilty to three counts of involuntary manslaughter

COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho — Kootenai County Courthouse officials have confirmed that Dennis Magner has pleaded not guilty to three counts of involuntary manslaughter Friday morning.

He was charged with involuntary manslaughter for the deaths of Justin Honken, Justin Luhr and Caitlin Breeze.

The Sheriff’s office said the crash occurred in July 2016 when a boat operated by Magner struck a stationary boat occupied by Honken, Luhr and Breeze.  Their bodies were found later by a dive and sonar team.

During the investigation, Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office said Magner and three of his passengers provided false information about who was driving the boat at the time of the crash.

When it became public knowledge that three people had drowned, some of those passengers recanted their stories and said Magner had been driving at the time of the crash.
