SPOKANE -- A group of WWII heroes are back in Spokane after seeing the memorial built in their honor.

About 100 people packed the baggage claim area at Spokane International Airport.  Many of them were choked up.  They wanted to show their gratitude for the 25 Honor Flight veterans.

American flags lined the ramp as the veterans were greeted with signs, applause and hugs.  Veterans say it was a unique journey for them traveling cross-country to see the WWII monument.  For many, it brought back the kind of closure they regret their fallen comrades will never experience.  But they are grateful for the opportunity.  They also say while they were in Washington, D.C., they were treated like kings.

The Honor Flight veterans hope that the program will continue to be successful so other veterans can take advantage of the opportunity.
