SPOKANE -- Hundreds of Spokane children are getting vaccinated in their own schools thanks to clinics offered by the Spokane Regional Health District.
The health district has had five school clinics so far with about 28 schools and daycares planned by the end of November. But for the Guild School of Spokane, these vaccinations will almost certainly save lives.
Two and a half year old Brody was born with a seizure disorder and is a student at the Guild School. He's one of 188 students all of which are three years old or younger with developmental issues and underlying health conditions.
"I was rushing to get here and to have him vaccinated," said Brody's mother Sascha Flanigan. "His immune system is compromised. So any little virus could be life-threatening to him."
That's also why she's vaccinating the youngest of her five kids, six-month-old Jillian.
"I'm so concerned about the germs they bring home from school. She puts everything in her mouth," said Flanigan.
Over a two day period, the school will be giving out 300 doses of the vaccine. They will be given not just to the kids but some members of their family and caregivers as well.
