Fmr. Davenport HS coach convicted in student video porn case killed in crash

SPOKANE, Wash. – A former Davenport High School counselor and girls basketball coach that was convicted in 1995 of forcing his teenage girl students to appear in pornographic movies was killed in a crash over Thanksgiving weekend.

Charles Jungblom, 77, died from his injuries sustained in the crash. He was the passenger in his wife’s van when a car going the opposite direction hit a deer, launching it into the other lane and through the Jungbloms’ windshield near Sagle, Idaho on Sunday.

The Davenport School District superintendent confirmed the man killed in the Sagle crash was the same as the man convicted in the 1990s. He served five years in prison for paying a student to make pornographic videos.

The Associated Press reported in 1997 that a jury awarded former student Heather Giles $3.5 million in damages from the case in a civil trial. Giles had said during that trial Jungblom also raped her and pretended to work for a modeling agency.

Editor’s note: KREM 2 does not typically identify the victims in sexual assault cases, however Giles came forward in court and publicly identified herself.
