Hot and dry conditions bring fire restrictions to Colville National Forest

COLVILLE, Wash.—Colville National Forest will be put under stage two fire restrictions Sunday, August 6.

Reports said the restriction will ban campfires in all areas of the forest, including campgrounds.

The restriction also applies to all roads, trails and recreational areas in the Colville Nation Forest.

Fire Management Officer, Tim Sampson said the restrictions come from the increasing hot and dry weather seen over the Inland Northwest.

“This increased step in fire prevention shows how serious our fire danger is anticipated to be and should serve as a reminder to forest visitors to pay extra attention while out enjoying their National Forest,” said Sampson.

Officials said the fire danger level at Colville National Forest is very high. Very high fire danger levels mean fire start quickly and are hard to contain.

Ferry County Sheriff’s Office has more information on the fire restrictions on their Facebook page.
