Ferry Co. nurse sentenced to federal prison after taking patients' medications

(11-9-17)

REPUBLIC, Wash.— A 37-year-old nurse was sentenced to 27 months in federal prison after she was caught taking medication from patients.

Republic Police Department chief, Loren Culp reported that Cory Riehart had been working at the Ferry County Hospital when other staff members became suspicious of her actions.

RPD was called to investigate and said they found out that Riehart was using a syringe to suck medication out of its containers and replacing it with saline.

Chief Culp said that after investigating Riehart he discovered she had worked at other hospitals as a nurse. He said he contacted the DEA and found out she had done this at other hospitals.

Culp said if it was not for the sharp eye of the hospital staff, Riehart could have moved onto other hospitals to do the same thing.
