SPOKANE, Wash.--An annoying problem is getting local exterminators busier than usual. Yellow jackets swarmed Spokane this summer and nearly doubled business for Spokane-area pest control businesses.

There has been a spike in yellow jackets across Washington according to exterminators. Pest control leaders blame it on the long, warm spring. More queen wasps survived the spring and reproduced. Exterminators believe it is because there was there was less fluctuation from cool to warm temperatures during the spring.

Exterminators said a handful of businesses have called for help. However, most of the complaints are from homeowners.
