CHENEY -- A sewage plant worker riding a tractor was critically injured Thursday afternoon after the tractor rolled into a ditch.
Firefighters say no one saw the rollover happen, but a witness called 911 when they saw a plume of smoke coming from sewage plant property on Anderson Road in Cheney.
Firefighters say the tractor rolled into a ditch, and caused a small brush fire, trapping the worker underneath the equipment.
When firefighters arrived, they were able to quickly put the fire out, and lift the tractor off the man.
He was airlifted to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.
