AIRWAY HEIGHTS, Wash. -- A woodpecker in a substation knocked out power to more than 2,000 Avista customers in the Airway Heights area Saturday afternoon.

The outage, which occurred around 12:15 p.m., also knocked out electricity to the City of Airway Heights, the Airway Heights Corrections Center, and Fairchild Air Force Base.

About 700 customers had their power restored by about 1:30 p.m.  Electricity for the remaining customers came back on by 2:30 p.m.
