SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) -- The National Weather Service says the wildfire danger across Eastern Washington will be critical Tuesday afternoon and evening when winds are expected to gust as a cold front moves across the Inland Northwest.
With low humidity, forecasters say any fire could be spread rapidly. Several wildfires that were started nearly a month ago by a lightning storm in Eastern Washington are still smoldering and could flare up.
A red flag warning is in effect until Tuesday night. And, Gov. Chris Gregoire has extended a ban on outdoor burning east of the Cascades through Sunday.
