CHENEY, Wash. -- A family of five is scrambling to find shelter after the wind peeled back the metal roof from their trailer home.
Everyone --including two children -- was home at the time, because of a late-start to the school day for Cheney Schools.
“The wind caught up underneath it and peeled it like a can,” said Chad Marlin.
The family said one big wind gust tore off the roof, and carried pieces of insulation several yards.
They are looking for tarps or some way to safely cover the home. Early estimates for a temporary replacement came in at $1,100 so they are looking for other options.
“God gives us so much to deal with, but he always gives us a solution. We’re just waiting for the solution right now, “said Marlin.
The family also has farm animals on the property. No one was hurt, including the animals.
