COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho -- The Coeur d'Alene Police Department now has an online program that brings crime statistics to citizens fingertips.  It's called crimereports.com and it allows people to see what is going on in their neighborhood.

Coeur d'Alene Police are responding to requests from people in block watch groups to have rapidly updated information about crime in their areas.  So far this year, the downtown area has had more theft and assault than other areas in Coeur d'Alene.

A neighborhood on Lakeside Avenue is close to downtown and people living there say they are concerned about the flow of traffic from that area.

"In December, I noticed that someone had shot out all of our street lights.  So I talked to all the neighbors and we all had different things going on where somebody's garage had been vandalized or broken into," said Keith Thorhaug.

Now Keith can look on crimereports.com to see what is going on in his neighborhood.  Just type in your address and crimes within a few miles of your area pop up.  You can also sign up for email alerts.

Overall in Coeur d'Alene, aggravated assault has gone up 41% since last year.  The number of burglaries and DUI's have gone down.
