SPOKANE, Wash. -- If you are planning a trip to the Department of Licensing soon, you are in for a surprise. KREM 2 on Your Side discovered wait times have significantly dropped in Washington State.

Scott Williams went to the DOL expecting to wait forever.

“Show up a half an hour early. Already a line. Showed up to get my enhanced DL. Three hours,” said Williams.

It turns out the DOL heard customer’s like Williams frustrations. The department turned to the internet to speed up the process. You can do everything from renewing your license to getting a copy of your driving history.

Two years after implementing this, there are no more lines and long wait times. In 2012, customers would have spent an average of 47 minutes in lines. In 2014, the wait is less than 12 minutes.

Another reason for the drop is that driver’s training is held at a third party location.
