SPOKANE—Warm, wet summer weather is creating the perfect conditions around the Spokane area for an uptick in ticks.

Local exterminator Raymond Vander-Low said he is keeping busy lately with people looking to get rid of ticks.  He said the problem with ticks is they multiply quickly and carry nasty diseases.

Vander-Low’s business sprays problem areas like wooded areas and paths at home, but he said they often sneak indoors on the family pet.  He suggested checking pets and their bedding to prevent this.

He also suggested humans use heavy repellent and to avoid sitting on stumps and logs in wooded areas.
