WALLA WALLA-- Walla Walla Police Detectives continue to process evidence and follow leads from Saturday's robbery at Banner Bank, 600 S. 9th Ave. The robbery was reported at 4:50 p.m. after a lone gunman entered the branch with what appeared to be a large black semi-automatic handgun and demanded cash.
Upon entering the bank, the suspect jumped up on the counter and pointed the gun at the tellers. Suspect is described as a white male, short hair, unknown age and was wearing a black cowboy hat, short-sleeved button-up dark shirt, white/black athletic shoes and had his face covered with a dark colored bandana.
Detectives recovered an abandoned bicycle a short distance away which may have been ridden by the robber. It is being processed for evidence.
The bike is a Diamond Back, Sorrento model, women’s style red mountain bike.
Agents from the FBI responded to the scene and assisted in the initial investigation.
Detectives are requesting assistance in identifying the rider of the bicycle that was seen riding to and from the robbery Friday afternoon. Witnesses are requested to call WWPD Detectives at 527-4434.
