COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho-- Election officials in Kootenai County is making some slight changes to early voting policies. They said this will be the first presidential election where you must go to the election office in Coeur d'Alene if you want to cast your vote early. This means you can not go to local city halls anymore to cast a ballot before Election Day.
"Part of the reason is security of the ballots," said Election Manager Carrie Phillips. "We didn't want them stored at the locations we had them at."
Election officials said previously, the cast ballots would stay locked up and sorted in the city halls of Rathdrum, Hayden, Coeur d'Alene, and Post Falls.
Voters can still vote from home with an absentee ballot.
Precincts all over the county will be open on Election Day.
